When the American Philatelic Society outgrew its headquarters, it decided to purchase and renovate this six-acre, 18-building abandoned historic match factory near downtown Bellefonte, PA. Extensive renovations transformed the old brick structures into the society’s new headquarters and multiple tenant spaces from three of the buildings. The exposed brick and wood timber structure remain exposed throughout the library and offices. A small post office on loan from the Smithsonian Museum of American History was reconstructed in one of the buildings.
