More than 130,000 yards of earth were moved to make way for an addition to the City of Cumberland’s wastewater treatment plant. This giant holding tank has a sluice gate and ventilation ducts under ground level. Consisting of 5 cells, a 54″ influent pipe and flushing gate assembly will also be installed. If completely filled, the tank will hold 6.5 million gallons. Above ground, there are two access buildings. One of the buildings will hold a motorized monorail hoist and trolley. There is also a pump station/ventilation building, valve vault, and transformer pad to be installed. Various control systems and PLCs will manage the vertical pumps, level signals for all chambers and cells, and the influent flow rate.
