SAFETY
OVERVIEW
At
LS. Fiore, the main goal is nothing less than elimination of injury to
people and damage to property. If either occurs, management wishes to
minimize the impact on both the worker and the company. All management
accident prevention and control activities are directed toward this
goal.
Safety
begins
by following the standards below, which apply to all company personnel and
to subcontractors. Remember, these rules and OSHA regulations are the
minimum safety requirements. Good housekeeping is the first rule and
must be followed through from beginning of the job to the finish.
Safety
on each project will be assigned to a field supervisor or the designated
competent person to ensure that project practice meets company standards.
These people see that foremen do not encourage or permit workers to take
unnecessary risks and that workers are instructed in safe working
conditions.
The
company’s safety tip program will continuously improve current
practices. Tips will be evaluated by the Safety Committee, and
those voted worthy will be sent to management for implementation. The best
suggestions will be rewarded financially.
Employees
are encouraged to report unsafe working conditions and unsage acts by
others to the Safety Committee. A list of committee personnel is
kept at the main office.
To
formalize and direct activities, the Safety Committee adapts and
implements the latest regulations formulated by the National Safety Committee
of Associated Builders and Contractors. Teams formed by the committee
bring a cooperative approach to achievement of these goals. A list of
teams is available at our main office in Altoona, PA.
Management
strongly supports the program and insists upon progress. Project managers
and job supervisors are responsible for implementing accident control and
for integrating
it into all operations. |
